The 2021 Paint Brand Study identified Sherwin-Williams as the most trusted paint brand. Sherwin-Williams generated a Net Trust Quotient Score of 116.1 and the 5 Star Trust Rating among people actively shopping a paint.
The study which studied shopper perceptions of residential paint brands and how each encounter impacts customers’ overall value of the brand. The study investigates questions, including the best paint brands, the paint brands people recommend the most, and what customers see as the quality of different residential paint brands? The study also identifies vital feature standards that drive customer satisfaction, paint shopper reviews, net promoter, quality reviews, purchase intent, and other measures.

The 2021 ranking is based on a survey of 13,437 people surveyed between January and December 2020 in the United States. The trust score is calculated based on how thousands of people judge the merits of more than 500 brands and product segments. The most recognized residential paint brands are among the nationally-ranked brands evaluated in the study. This approach provides insight into how brands are seen within the paint product category, as well as across product industries.
The residential paint brands most recognized in the study were Sherwin-Williams, Behr, Kilz, Pratt & Lambert, Benjamin Moore, Valspar, Duron, Royal (Ace), Kelly Moore, Glidden, Pittsburg Paint, Olympic, and Dutch Boy. Sherwin-Williams received the highest Net Trust Quotient score and earned the #1 ranking of most trusted residential paint brands.
